🧘‍♀️ Yoga Strong Minute #13: 🧘‍♀️ The #1 Movement to Improve Your Balance

Samantha Harrison | OCT 30, 2025

"Balance is not something you find. It’s something you create.”Jana Kingsford

This month we’re focusing on two things that get taken for granted…
👣 Your feet and your balance

Today we are focused on balance and there’s one often-overlooked muscle that makes all the difference:

👉 🍑Your glute medius.

It’s the side-hip muscle responsible for:

  • Keeping you steady when standing on one leg

  • Supporting your gait when walking or hiking

  • Stabilizing your pelvis to reduce strain on the knees and lower back

When this muscle is weak or underused, you’re more likely to feel wobbly, off-center, or even experience hip, knee, or ankle issues.

✅ Enter the Pelvic List — my favorite movement to strengthen your glute med.

You don’t need equipment (unless you want to try this standing on blocks or a stair)

🎥 Watch the 3-minute demo:

(You’ll feel the burn in all the right places.)

This movement helps train your body to shift weight intentionally and improve your single-leg stability — which is the foundation for everything from yoga poses to daily life.

If you’ve ever:

  • Wobbled during Warrior III

  • Struggled with balance poses

  • Felt achy hips or tired feet

…this simple movement is your new best friend.

We’ll be incorporating more foot and balance work throughout this month, so now’s the perfect time to lean in (and not fall over 😉).

See you soon,
Samantha
