🧘♀️Yoga Strong Minute #16: Lessons from Falling
Samantha Harrison | OCT 30, 2025
When I first started learning arm balances and inversions, I can’t tell you how many times I fell. I’d kick up into handstand and come right back down. I’d try Crow Pose and feel like my feet were glued to the floor. Honestly, I thought maybe I just wasn’t built for these poses.
But here’s the thing I learned: every single fall was progress.
Every attempt was teaching my body and my mind something new — how to engage my core, how to trust my wrists, how to breathe through fear.
Little by little, what felt impossible started to feel… playful.
That’s why this month at Yoga Strong, we’re focusing on arm balances and inversions.
And in Yoga Strong classes we are going to do movements that help with these poses AND build a ton of real-life strength too.
Shoulder Presses = putting groceries on the top shelf
Dumbbell Snatches = hoisting a suitcase into the overhead bin
Dumbbell Swings = lifting a laundry basket or a child without straining your back
Farmer’s Carries (and friends) = wrist and grip strength for everything from opening jars to balancing in Crow Pose

It’s not about perfect poses. It’s about building functional strength and the confidence to try, fall, and try again.
So the next time fear whispers, “What if I fall?” — remember the better question: “Oh, but darling… what if you fly?”
See you on the mat,
💜 Samantha
